“So He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read.” Luke 4.16

“For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you; that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread, and when He had given thanks, He broke it, and said, ‘Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me. In the same manner He also took that cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This, do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes.” –I Corinthians 11.23

But when they departed from Perga, they came to Antioch in Pisidia, and went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day and sat down. And after the reading of the Law and the Prophets, the rulers of the synagogue sent to them, saying, ‘Men and brethren, if you have any word of exhortation for the people, say on."Acts 13.15

Walk prudently when you go to the house of God; and draw near to hear rather than to give the sacrifice of fools, for they do not know that they do evil.”Ecclesiastes 5.1

Why Fellowship?

Why do we need a fellowship and who establishes it?

In one of our interactive Bible studies, the question I got was about fellowship. It hinted on some of the problems and/or confusions among believers and brethren as to why and what serves the purpose of fellowship. The question read: "When one says that the fellowship is magulo (conflict-ridden), malungkot (sad), what is the first thing one must do? Is it right to just ‘lie low’ until one deems it right to attend again? What does the Bible say?"

Yes, indeed. Why and what is a fellowship? Is it just "our" convenient way of "socializing," so that whenever one feels that it is no longer serve his/her purposes, one can simply withdraw himself/herself and leave? Is it alright to "lie low" whenever the fellowship is magulo? What should one do? On the other hand, misunderstanding can sometimes happen in the church that we wonder: "Do we still need a fellowship?" Others prefer to stay home to avoid being exposed and hurt. Is this the right thing
to do?

It was quite a sight to see, considering that we just worked on it ourselves, praying and asking for strength to continue despite some hurdles and discouraging encounters... Wink

Who Are We?

Who are you?

We are now known as Church of God Sharing Village, formerly Church of God Fellowship Manila, a fellowship of believers of the Church of God which we believe is a “spiritual organism—the ‘ekklesía’—composed of those people (regardless of affiliation), Christians or saints of God, called by the Father and led by, and in whom dwells, the Spirit of God. (I Tim 3:15; 2 Timothy 2:2; I Corinthians 12:12-14, 27; Colossians 3:15)” [-CGSV Articles of Faith]

“For I do not desire, brethren, that you should be ignorant of this mystery, lest you should be wise in your own opinion, that blindness in part has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in.” -Paul’s letter to church in Rome, 11.25
“Therefore remember that you, once Gentiles in the flesh... that at that time you were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the commonwealth of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.”Ephesians 2.11a,12-13.

“Now therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and members of the household of God, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you are also being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.” -Ephesians 2.19-22

“For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.”- Matthew 18.20
